Learn more about what we do
Waterhen Lake First Nation Development LP
The Waterhen Lake First Nation is striving for greater autonomy and control in the decision-making process away from government. In collaboration with other local governments throughout the Meadow Lake Tribal Council, the community has overcome significant obstacles and pre-conceived notions of Indigenous people and business. This has been achieved by a commitment to improved quality of life for Waterhen through business development, employment, education and training initiatives.
In pursuit of this commitment, the Waterhen First Nation has embarked on strengthening its economy through the incorporation of the Waterhen Lake First Nation Development LP through its' general partner the Waterhen Lake First Nation Development Corporation (WLFNDC). The movement towards the separation of business and politics will ensure that Waterhen businesses are professionally managed with demonstrated development capacity through successful business expansion and attraction strategies. We need to work towards developing a culture of entrepreneurial excellence where our young and growing population will see business creation as a way out of poverty.
Wealth creation strategies and the successful growth and renewal of our economic development projects under Waterhen Lake First Nation Development LP will increase the generation of our own source revenue and will develop, direct and oversee the business interests, investments, and opportunities of the Waterhen Lake First Nation. Waterhen Lake First Nation Development LP will be instrumental in generating revenue and increasing employment opportunities for our members under the direction of our CEO and the WLFNDC Board of Directors.
